The Glass Shoe

In 2014, Nick Knight featured this creation of Georgina's in a short film entitled La Douleur Exquise. The film was featured in the Brooklyn Museum's exhibition, Killer Heels, which featured over 160 pairs of shoes from various designers. The exhibition drew connections between the shoe and its relation to the painful pursuit of love in fairytale convention, drawing on such themes as passion, hardship, discomfort and tension. Georgina's glass slippers, a project on which she collaborated with glass sculptor Max Jacquard, echo this contrast of love and hardship in their brittle, fragile and yet beautiful nature.
